Osborn Reflex Bolts
The Osborn Reflex Bolt is a 23mm dia. indented seven wire steel strand flexible rock bolt combining the advantages of a rock bolt with the flexibility and properties of a cable bolt.
Fixed Head Type Barrel and Wedge Type
Applications
For the reinforcement of the strata in mine roadways, coal faces, stopes, shafts and tunnels in areas of high shear and axial loading, normally in areas above the height of conventional rigid rock bolt limitations but is also often used to supplement standard rigid rock bolt reinforcement at lower horizons where high shear and axial loading occurs within the rigid roof bolt working height. roof bolts cable bolt cablebolts rock bolts long tendons The product is available in various formats including pre-tensionable, specialised lifting bolts, plain and fixed end drives. The Fixed Head Reflex Bolt is a very easy to install flexible rock bolt that is used in strata conditions that require little or no pre-tensioning. Installation of this bolt is generally into capsule type resins. flexi bolt flexibolt The Pre-Tension Reflex Bolt would be used in strata conditions where pre-tensioning has proved to be beneficial. The bolt can be used with resin or a resin/grout anchor medium. point anchor rib bolt 15.2mm 23mm strand The Tensionable Reflex Bolt is generally used where heavy equipment (e.g. conveyor belt drives) needs to be suspended from the mine or tunnel roof. The threaded section of the end termination allows the suspended equipment to be adjusted and realigned. All end termination will give the full load capacity of the strand which is 500 KN. The Reflex Flexible Lifting Bolt is a dedicated lifting bolt that can be used to lift heavy loads in a mine environment. The main benefits gained over rigid lifting bolts are that multi lifts can be achieved at acute angles without any danger of the bolt breaking. The bolt can also resolve the problem of lifting where the immediate roof is damaged or broken, in these conditions longer bolts can be installed through the weak strata into good ground to give the bolt a solid anchor to lift from. The Reflex Lifting Bolt has a Safe Working Load of 6 tonne with a safety factor of 5:1 The full range of Reflex Bolts generally come in length between 1.8 and 8 metre long and can be tailor made to fit specific requirements. A full range of installation and tensioning equipment is readily available.
Specification
The Reflex flexible rock bolt is a unique, patented semi open weave indented wire strand. The strand weave enables maximum resin or grout migration between the outer six wires to ensure maximum bond strength and system stiffness.
The strand construction of six outer wires woven around the larger diameter king wire means that any swage or wedge end termination is capable of transferring any load or stress encountered during working conditions onto the full cross section of the strand.
The same construction provides a semi-rigid structure that provides a flexible strand that is stiff enough to avoid whiplash problems during installation, often encountered with multi-wire strand and cables.
The standard Reflex bolt has an axial strength of 500 kN. and shear strength of 375 kN. to 380 kN. A galvanised version is also available.
This product is typically installed in suitably drilled holes and encapsulated in polyester resin or cementatious grout or a combination of resin and grout. The product is installed using rotary hand pneumatic or hydraulic rock bolting drills.
The Osborn Reflex Bolt offers true flexibility in the most demanding support situations.
